Throughout Florida and the neighboring southern region
Temps are warming up in Florida. However, May and June are still good months to ride in a cycling event. Also, we’ve just listed some events in the southern U.S. states that are taking place in the mountains with a little cooler weather.
If you are looking for events on road, gravel, mountain bike trails and paved trails, we’ve located something for you.
Whether you are a novice or experienced rider there are cycling events for you.
There is a good selection of distances available to choose from. Several events have “family friendly” distances so you can ride together as a family and introduce your kids to the joy of toeing the line with a group of other kids. You might even hear them say, “How cool is this”!

The Blueberry Pancake Gravel Grind on June 6, 2026 in Wellborn, FL is a one to two hour drive from Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville. Enjoy the Wellborn Blueberry Festival after your ride.
The Tour de Melon launches from Chiefland, FL, the “Watermelon Capital of the World” on June 6, 2026. Multiple distance routes are offered on either roads or rails-to-trails paved trails.
Tour de Melon is a two-hour drive from Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando.
Wheels & Wings, on June 13 and 14 in Punta Gorda, FL offers a free gravel adventure on the first day through a flat state wildlife area. On the second day the road event starts at a waterfront park just one hour south of Sarasota. Both rides are a little than a two-hour drive from Tampa, Lakeland and Fort Lauderdale.
Other Events In Southern States
The Blue Ridge Brutal event in West Jefferson, NC on August 15, 2026 is not for the faint of heart. All of the routes - 25, 50, 70 or 100 miles - take you through the Blue Ridge mountains and over many hills. As such, all these routes can be considered challenging to strenuous.
The Ridge Runout Gravel event in Jonas Ridge, NC on September 19, 2026 is a self-supported gravel ride hosted by Wildhaven Farm & Forest Retreat. It explores lesser-known backroads of the Pisgah National Forest.
The widely known Dirty Sheets Gravel Grinder in Chattahoochee Hills, GA on October 17, 2026 offers 20, 62 or 102 milers. Routes offer a mix of challenging climbs and scenic country. This popular event is limited to 650 cyclists.
