Join a Ride of Silence
May 21 is the worldwide Ride of Silence. Cyclists in 14 countries…in 40 U.S. States…have participated in this ride and have spoken 0 words as they rode.
They take to the roads in a silent, slow procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or severely injured while cycling on public roadways.
Florida ranks in the top five states in our nation in bicycle rider deaths and injuries.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride. Cyclists are required to wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride.
If your schedule permits, join a Ride of Silence in your area.
While the ride usually takes place at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of May, some locations hold it on a different day.
Most Ride of Silence events are between 5 and 10 miles long, allowing a majority of cyclists to ride regardless of fitness level. The group is encouraged to stay together. This is not a race.
Many rides across Florida are organized by a cycling club. To find one near you, google Ride of Silence and your city or cycling club.

If you’re a newsletter subscriber, who lives outside of Florida, go to the Ride of Silence website for information on locations across the U.S. On the ROS website you can also find many reports about the positive impact Ride of Silence has provided for those whose loved one was killed while riding their bike.
The site also posts directions and help on how to organize and promote a Ride of Silence.
Be safe. Wear a helmet. Ride often.
